Time to s l o w d o w n . . . .

I have to admit, I was only half listening to the TV when I turned it on the other evening while unloading the dishwasher and starting to make dinner.... Oprah was on and her guest was a woman who had accidentally left her child in her car when she went to work; her daughter died from the heat. There were many guests on the show that talked about slowing down, being in the moment, and only doing one thing at a time. I found myself weaping in the kitchen, unable to move from the spot there by the sink...I saw myself in that mother...running so hard and fast to get things done... That show made me stop and think... I too find myself very overwhelmed by the list of things that I need to do, the places I need to be, the bar that I have set for myself that it totally self-imposed....the world will not come to a crashing halt if the laundry sits for one more day....really!
One of her guests talked about when she goes to bed at night thinking about whether she was the perfect mom each day.....all the things she didn't do that she should have done....she felt like a failure every day... I don't want to be that Mom... I want to live in the moment...I want to embrace the silly behavior of my girls...to really be in the moment with them...to watch them play....to LEARN to play all over again...to allow myself to relax and have fun...that is THE most important job I have on my to-do list.
So yesterday my youngest and I decided to paint and stamp.... she was in charge of our projects...she picked the stamps, the colors, the paper...she even did the stamping... I have to say that I love her card and I love that when I was going through all the sentiment stamps that I have she stopped after I read this one to her....almost like she knew it was what I needed to do at this exact moment.
So...I am going to BE there more for my girls...I am going to MAKE time for myself every day....I am going to SLOW DOWN and really enjoy LIVING my life each day with intent and purpose.
Here is the most beautiful card in the world to me....

card stamped by the Original "P" using a Unity Stamp (from the Giggle grove set) and an Autumn Leaves stamp (the sentiment)... Pattern paper is Scenic Route...
I think it is wonderful...just like her!

Hey Lynda, I totally agree! So neat that your daughter enjoys crafting with you too. A friend of mine is helping her daughter with a new blog for kids that she might enjoy. It's just getting started but it's here:

That was a pretty gut wrenching story wasn't it? The world is definitely working at warp speed and more people need to take the time to stop and smell the flowers. Our kids are only small for such a short time, they won't remember if the laundry was done or the house was always spotlight.

I love the card!
