Some days it's good....to be BAD!!!

So I'm taking the Design Academy classes over at Bad Girl Kits so for the next few weeks a class is posted on Monday morning and you have until Sunday morning to complete your assignment. On Sunday night they eliminate some of the class and only some move to the next class. I am not doing the class to win anything, but to step outside my regular scrapping style for a bit to see how it is to walk on the "bad side"... :o)

This weeks class was all about mixing up pattern papers...so I first made the decision to scrap this amazing photo of a butterfly that I took at the zoo a few months ago...I then had to pick which colors to scrap with...I picked pink, orange, black, and white...then to pick my paper... this was not as easy for me as it usually is...the photo was very vibrant...so I picked these yummy papers from 3 Bugs in a Rug and a sheet of small white on black floral paper from Doodlebug.

I cut apart the two pieces of paper and pieced them together to create my new background; notice how the color sequence is not the same as the original and I trimmed the edges from the second sheet; putting them on the first page and then cut out the pink strip with the black outlined flowers and layered that after inking the edges. I mounted my photo on the black and white pattern paper and used it to back my title block as well. I used a piece of Target dollar spot ribbon on the bottom to pull the colors down the page...I then grouped a bunch of flowers together to balance out the layout. I really am happy with how it turned out...and I am really learning a lot in these classes...so you never know what you'll see next week...

here's a closeup of the floral grouping:

being BAD is fun!!!
