So...my dh is traveling in Europe this week....lucky him. He's gotten to go see his host family from when he was an exchange student in Holland and everything. My eyes are naturally green, but I think they are a wee bit darker this week...
So...he's gone...
fade to the phone ringing and some automated voice telling me they are from the credit fraud department please stay on the line...I think yeah right...this is a scam and I hang up.
The phone rings a few hours later...same mechanical voice...so I think...okay...not a scam and follow the instructions and confirm some "outrageous" charges for hotel and car rental overseas...then I start to think...could that have been a scam. Well when dh calls he confirms that yes with the dollar doing as poorly as it is it had cost him $385 a night to stay at Best Western (yeah)...and $284 for renting a car for one day...whew!!! I told him we had gotten a call to confirm the charges and I took care of it......
well I thought I took care of it...now comes the computer glitch that always seems to happen to me....
fade to the phone ringing first thing this morning...dh calling me from London to say that the credit card had been denied (yes, THE since we only use one if we travel) ...what had I done...how was he suppose to finish his business and get home....(fade to me almost fainting thinking I was duped by some automated scammer again instantly; they had run off to Tahiti with my credit card information and I'm stuck here in this crummy rainy weather and they are off having a good time with my money in the sun)...
fade to me running through the house to get the credit card company information and call to then go through their automated red-tape until I finally say the word "help" enough that the computer is forced to put a real person on the line because I think it could tell that I was growing impatient with the "more options" verbal option command getting me nowhere...
fade to my talking to a real person for like ten minutes...the computer had issues it didn't get my responses right...they'll take the account off hold...he can use his card again...sorry for the trouble...
fade to my calling dh to say you're good to go...whew since he may now bring home something from London for us all...(usually good chocolate)
fade to our leaving for preschool....phone rings...very eerily familiar computer voice telling me the credit fraud department needs to speak to me... I hang up quickly...I can not deal with this right now...we have to get to school...
So...fade to three hours later when I'm back from preschool....one more phone call to find out their computer didn't take the now "re input" information that the person took when I spoke to them earlier that day... "I can assure you it's all resolved" Virgil told me before I hung up...
fade to the other Mom coming to the door to pick up her daughter from the after preschool play date...the phone rings...I answer it and SCREAM....same automated voice... (I am sure we'll never have that cute sweet little girl over again since her mom thinks I'm now a total psycho!)
fade to me sitting here typing this at my computer...headset on....on hold again after saying "Help" about ten times into this stupid automated system....which is where I end this post...at some point they have to stop calling...right??? (I don't have call waiting, so they'll be getting a busy signal right now)
It wasn't a scam...this computer glitch is the scam...taking up all my time to get this resolved...
