Photo taken January 22, 2008

So...Suzanne's blog challenge for this week is:
Post a photo that you’ve taken this month and tell us all about it in detail!

Here is my picture....surprise...it is not of one of my two legged girls....but of my four legged old lady cat. While trying to photograph a project I had completed...guess who decided to join me and sit on the white board and roll all around the carpet upstairs???

So they say that man's best friend is his dog...well this woman has this cat. I met Stinkbug almost 17 years ago when I was in college. I went to class and came home to hear this cat screaming...I thought for sure that my father's less than graceful cat had fallen out the window or something...nope...it was this tiny little puffball of a calico kitty up a tree. The big orange tabby downstairs (Tristen) had chased her up the tree and away from his food bowl....mean old kitty. She was just fur and fleas....so I took her in...gave her a flea bath and she took over the place. She was the queen of the castle.....the other two cats did not stand a chance!

Over the years she has been a constant companion to me...bringing me much joy and delight (and only one dead mouse...thank you!) You have comforted me in times of loss and snuggled with me when I have not felt well. You have tolerated being bumped down the food chain by both girls better than I would have ever imagined.
I love that you chase birds in your sleep....you mew, and yip at them and your whiskers twitch back and forth the whole time. (okay...I imagine they are birds since I can't ask you what your dreams are about) I love when you sit in the window and make these same noises....part of the reason we feed the birds and still have the holly tree out front is so you have some entertainment in the yard!

I can tell after all these years the difference between your meows...your hungry one, my water bowl is empy....don't forget to tend the kitty meow...

I love that even though you now belong to all four of us....you are still my little old lady cat...you prefer to sleep on my lap while we watch tv...you still sit in the extra chair with me in my scrap room....you still meet me at the door on most days when I've been out.

I've been so blessed to have you in my life this very long time and I dread the thought of not hearing your catterwal at night while I'm trying to sleep. You'll always be my baby stink, stinkbug...

Thank you my calico four legged best friend....you have taught me so very much.

Here are a few original pictures...scanning is not that great, but look at how tiny you were...

Awww, Lynda, I love it! Sniff, sniff, she is very well loved to have lived such a long life. I'm sure if she had a blog, she would thank you. :-)
