If you have hopped to my blog from <a href="https://joycielcreations.blogspot.com/?fbclid=IwAR2bxQcpIPeja6zLJ5zcDvybD9Y6d-aJbUOyln6VzfvddXEJvnk1U0UJ8m8">Joyce's blog</a> you've come to the right spot! If you get lots along the way...I have posted the full hop order at the bottom of this post.</p><p style="text-align: left;">For my project today I am using the stunning image titled <a href="https://www.unitystampco.com/daisy-days/">Daisy Days</a>. I chose this stamp as it is such an awesome size and the details of it are equally as stunning. I've been working on a lot of journaling projects during the stay at home orders, so I have a stack of blank travelers journals that I am using. I decided that the next one I fill needed a beautiful cover.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYENknjUNtkp_MHZ2_xp9ddVX7tpHsRAyQ341nb3hq1MYX3ZFuUprISPGYp8M3xrUmBNei1FM0T5KOotAx2Gakx7IAb5XEbZdAhpeu7lA_tBzRrTxLiY7XCIT8Waq7kl6ly-fcdA/s1024/journal+supplies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1002" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYENknjUNtkp_MHZ2_xp9ddVX7tpHsRAyQ341nb3hq1MYX3ZFuUprISPGYp8M3xrUmBNei1FM0T5KOotAx2Gakx7IAb5XEbZdAhpeu7lA_tBzRrTxLiY7XCIT8Waq7kl6ly-fcdA/w626-h640/journal+supplies.jpg" width="626" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;">I started by covering the journal cover with brown bag cardstock. This particular journal has a not so attractive image on the cover, so I wanted to replace it with something pretty. I then stamped the image onto the plain cardstock using Stazon brown ink.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOGpc3m7Hlnbqhc8XIvWgntdBDetfqPw0GhjGwQ77fgh2x7lOAZpHbJV1sryKfoEfGF9sJ0j79yoPK6r93H2cKGDAPmlGabBPdmOkSv2Q5RTIQtTneFyomNpmMg5Xkk-zJo8lVjA/s1024/trim+cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOGpc3m7Hlnbqhc8XIvWgntdBDetfqPw0GhjGwQ77fgh2x7lOAZpHbJV1sryKfoEfGF9sJ0j79yoPK6r93H2cKGDAPmlGabBPdmOkSv2Q5RTIQtTneFyomNpmMg5Xkk-zJo8lVjA/w480-h640/trim+cover.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;">I then trimmed the image and backed it with dark brown cardstock and black cardstock. I wanted to thank you for the wonderful comments left this week. I truly appreciate the kind words and love to have been able to share my projects with you this week.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">For my final project this week I wanted to create something really fun, so I stamped the main image from the <a href="https://www.unitystampco.com/succ-y-without-you-wk-8-20/">Succ-y Without You</a> stamp set in Memento ink onto a piece of cardstock. I then stamped the image two more times onto other cardstock. I then used my Copic markers to color the entire image on my card base and selected images that I wanted to accent on the additional stamped images. I then cut out three of the succulents from the extra images. I then used foam tape to pop up the extra images on top of their colored twins. I then stamped the sentiment onto scrap white cardstock and trimmed it down. I edged the cardbase and sentiment using brown ink. The sentiment was added using the same foam tape.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpifv6a9BB9cnyS4Rvu8s0kDs1o8Qd-av8loN3ZmTi_4CEB_uD3vIAiPJVPyNlEcwicc4-RenRypXCMGtMAy9sVUZNG05CJoyu5kbyBDcGE2pnwrbysfEu-VQfwpvw2tzFvtS76A/s640/giu+2021+day+five+full.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="519" data-original-width="640" height="520" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpifv6a9BB9cnyS4Rvu8s0kDs1o8Qd-av8loN3ZmTi_4CEB_uD3vIAiPJVPyNlEcwicc4-RenRypXCMGtMAy9sVUZNG05CJoyu5kbyBDcGE2pnwrbysfEu-VQfwpvw2tzFvtS76A/w640-h520/giu+2021+day+five+full.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuIfJ3g6piYI1hbeF9Y563VK-DJrb7Si-VMylGsHklvdpiYkcf0fFkxnZBvqmil1fjVJSbWMsCINmcnAnMAOIBj2iegpevqHPTJbe6J9RrIKoU5T6-9ZH7yXVCFvJ_wrpdKinxdA/s640/giu+2021+day+five+card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuIfJ3g6piYI1hbeF9Y563VK-DJrb7Si-VMylGsHklvdpiYkcf0fFkxnZBvqmil1fjVJSbWMsCINmcnAnMAOIBj2iegpevqHPTJbe6J9RrIKoU5T6-9ZH7yXVCFvJ_wrpdKinxdA/w640-h480/giu+2021+day+five+card.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuzsXaW9ZIzy8v0Oivfhod-3D3ft2YkYCDhStHRyV4Urpp7OmO5x1hwaVkCKs0de3MTXtF1qKw9rSuPDVsInMy63RwAbqGysWLcxJQC5SzuUJcWBwTbYuGhBMRsLKluMruX2sRWQ/s640/giu+2021+day+five+close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuzsXaW9ZIzy8v0Oivfhod-3D3ft2YkYCDhStHRyV4Urpp7OmO5x1hwaVkCKs0de3MTXtF1qKw9rSuPDVsInMy63RwAbqGysWLcxJQC5SzuUJcWBwTbYuGhBMRsLKluMruX2sRWQ/w640-h480/giu+2021+day+five+close.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">I love how this card turned out! Today I'm going to share with you a project I created using that tried and true favorite stamp set of mine....<a href="https://www.unitystampco.com/succ-y-without-you-wk-8-20/">Succ-y without you</a>!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Today we are going to explore another of my favorite mediums to create with.....watercolors! I love that watercoloring is so forgiving when you are creating. Something seems a little too dark...add a little water to it...a little to light...put some more color on it...make a mistake, just dab it with a paper towel and poof better. Even better than that is to keep a magic eraser on your art table while you watercolor and buff away an stray spots to return your base to like new!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">For my project I used paints from four different pan sets from Prima: Woodlands, Essence, Currents, and Terrain. I love the way these particular paints blend together and the fact that they are pans means I can carry them around and create anywhere....so this card was painted while watching tv. I then came back into my art room and stamped the sentiment using brown pigment ink. I also used that same ink to edge the entire card to better define the space.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">When you watercolor you want to use a permanent ink. So this image was stamped using a Stazon black ink pad onto watercolor paper that I had trimmed down to card size. I then mixed and transferred the colors onto my image using mainly a round 2 paintbrush.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinRdUBrVRXq05j_sPjdQCXVwbFcQlNIdKXYxtx8cuk202FPupXpokbIz7P5cy5JvSFfGFlwcJSLXMipmD9AtvdUZRnvksnBI4RK4Gtc7-5cYGK48lkTtGNUpd5lSHkzO7ZJPpONw/s640/giu+2021+watercolor+full.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinRdUBrVRXq05j_sPjdQCXVwbFcQlNIdKXYxtx8cuk202FPupXpokbIz7P5cy5JvSFfGFlwcJSLXMipmD9AtvdUZRnvksnBI4RK4Gtc7-5cYGK48lkTtGNUpd5lSHkzO7ZJPpONw/w640-h480/giu+2021+watercolor+full.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-vitlmPR8Jb7fRaoY20gq9kpBpAKemlBCaH5mxPKvQQAtXYz_pI0cIhaxuVugp5cWSQs7LOco8NtiewAHf-JiRYcW0wrsuGM7ia4RA-HdA6wvE_DKuKxW85qVWcR4aiIks1z-ew/s640/giu+2021+watercolor+close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-vitlmPR8Jb7fRaoY20gq9kpBpAKemlBCaH5mxPKvQQAtXYz_pI0cIhaxuVugp5cWSQs7LOco8NtiewAHf-JiRYcW0wrsuGM7ia4RA-HdA6wvE_DKuKxW85qVWcR4aiIks1z-ew/w640-h480/giu+2021+watercolor+close.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">I love the look of the watercolors. I hope you have enjoyed my projects so far this week featuring the <a href="https://www.unitystampco.com/succ-y-without-you-wk-8-20/">Succ-y without you</a> stamp set. This set was part of the August 2020 Whit-Kit, but you can still pick it up in the store, so it's not too late to grab it!!!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">So for today's project I wanted to share with you this fun journal I made to keep track of my succulents in my garden. I started with this cute little book that I picked up in a package of 8 at the Target Dollar Spot. It is 8 x 8 and the perfect size for making notes about my friends in the garden.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I started by stamping the image onto white carstock. I then colored the image with my COPIC markers. I trimmed the cardstock down to 6 1/2 x 6 1/2. I then edged the paper with some Distress Markers in complimentary colors. I created a frame like border around the edge of the journal using this wonderful paper I received at Christmas this year. (this paper is called Eucalyptus and for some reason people were saying it was the "unicorn" of pattern papers, so I had to ask for some for Xmas) It is beautiful paper and complimentary to the colors that you find in succulents.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiXh-CSbwz6PqsH6GXKt8VORJZ1TsJ-XVMf2BVQbu56osg2Esf4d6AhV_AsJFkujERoWIiUFv9Ow-7AyP6r9CPV6B4xSIJUuhgtMR-uKeABTtt7nAvjkN00m_1OPXytHE4SVzotA/s640/giu+2021+journal+and+markers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="382" data-original-width="640" height="382" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiXh-CSbwz6PqsH6GXKt8VORJZ1TsJ-XVMf2BVQbu56osg2Esf4d6AhV_AsJFkujERoWIiUFv9Ow-7AyP6r9CPV6B4xSIJUuhgtMR-uKeABTtt7nAvjkN00m_1OPXytHE4SVzotA/w640-h382/giu+2021+journal+and+markers.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1Hjbt9jtmvxAKCC5FpC2NPRlqykK-pi4VQe4Zv393SWpAhqVgJiet9vslnOAexZit7r-sK4MgSC0Xf45YuboKqSLHQdpNs87q9_w-5tGykpisoOH0UbLsXKjEJdpQergDW6Bwg/s640/giu+2021+journal+alone.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="625" data-original-width="640" height="624" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1Hjbt9jtmvxAKCC5FpC2NPRlqykK-pi4VQe4Zv393SWpAhqVgJiet9vslnOAexZit7r-sK4MgSC0Xf45YuboKqSLHQdpNs87q9_w-5tGykpisoOH0UbLsXKjEJdpQergDW6Bwg/w640-h624/giu+2021+journal+alone.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Now to show you what didn't work out...and how there are times when even your best project turns out a little succ-y and makes you pivot and go in a new direction. This project was suppose to kick off my Growing In Unity week. When I first started this project, I stamped and embossed the image in brown ink directly onto the cover of the journal. I decided to emboss because the cover is a glossy texture. What I didn't realize is that no matter how hard I tried and no matter what medium I used, the colors were not going to be smooth. They turned into this weird sticky kind of mess. When nothing was working, I put the project aside and moved on to the other things I wanted to create and share this week. I just let my creative brain roll around with ideas of how I could fix it and figure out that I had to cover up the embossed image on the cover. Here is how succ-y it looked...</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlY1tsWeom1SB5p0I5TDWdn29Lc87bBBDDYshDaUBcy8LOdhs9qpSF7bAxM7BRvRO1MAwBiww6D1fmjGdQVZ3NkBZwRDNQTpnb2jbdEfdrDXA5xAUIVTKhcme7ArO3_VrXo0Ssng/s640/Giu+2021+succy+journal+cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="616" data-original-width="640" height="616" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlY1tsWeom1SB5p0I5TDWdn29Lc87bBBDDYshDaUBcy8LOdhs9qpSF7bAxM7BRvRO1MAwBiww6D1fmjGdQVZ3NkBZwRDNQTpnb2jbdEfdrDXA5xAUIVTKhcme7ArO3_VrXo0Ssng/w640-h616/Giu+2021+succy+journal+cover.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I'm sharing this because it is so easy to get frustrated and think a project will not work out if the colors are off, or something isn't quite right. I am a big believer in "make it work" from Project Runway. Stamp the image again and do a coverup; just a part of it, or the whole thing like I did. It is a great way to turn a project that you might think is headed to the garbage can into something that is worth saving!!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win that awesome Unity prize at the end of my week!! Today I am sharing with you another project I have created using the same <a href="https://www.unitystampco.com/succ-y-without-you-wk-8-20/">Succ-y Without You</a> stamp set that I used yesterday. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">For my project, I stamped the main plant image from the stamp set onto white cardstock using Memento ink. I then colored the image with Copic markers. I then used some brown pigment ink to edge the card. I then stamped the sentiment along the bottom.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwrc99saBlPh3ytzitKu7cRdWCvgdF8TXOMwMbXK-4bLlKD3pPwFUfQIVshQB85ncr2dcA0KxXtVgf_i_FwbVhnAMrWUTwuma5OWMsJsLPwAVmAob8EWH_oG06F0x3AWNJ8nrhEg/s640/giu+2021+day+two.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="440" data-original-width="640" height="440" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwrc99saBlPh3ytzitKu7cRdWCvgdF8TXOMwMbXK-4bLlKD3pPwFUfQIVshQB85ncr2dcA0KxXtVgf_i_FwbVhnAMrWUTwuma5OWMsJsLPwAVmAob8EWH_oG06F0x3AWNJ8nrhEg/w640-h440/giu+2021+day+two.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I just LOVE this stamp set and how detailed this image is!</span><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8yZUmtUo01_-fRwE-oKVYfmTKyoag9oRMoPoAXP8ejHke8XpZKGYjobmmu-0duR34cE0GIxcBg31AJg6MwdZWX8arO2zZL3-XUXQKzK7JYkGXOPmTbihL4Ifmq7bXBIjGeHUTXQ/s640/giu+2021+day+two+card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8yZUmtUo01_-fRwE-oKVYfmTKyoag9oRMoPoAXP8ejHke8XpZKGYjobmmu-0duR34cE0GIxcBg31AJg6MwdZWX8arO2zZL3-XUXQKzK7JYkGXOPmTbihL4Ifmq7bXBIjGeHUTXQ/w640-h480/giu+2021+day+two+card.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I hope you will take a look at this awesome stamp set and see all the wonderful things you can do with it!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Happy crafting...and hope to see you tomorrow!!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: large;">Lynda</span></p>arlsmom aka Lyndahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05174475940058491617noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22508843.post-54808688959704385482021-01-18T01:30:00.003-08:002021-01-18T01:30:05.672-08:00Growing in Unity Day 1<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I am so excited to get to participate as a Growing In Unit Artist once again. It was such a thrill to see my name on the list for this year and really was a great way to start off 2021!!!. What an awesome opportunity to share my love of stamping and coloring. Unity Stamps are among the best quality you can purchase. Their deeply etched red rubber leaves a clean crisp image every time.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">For my first project I am using this wonderful image of a group of succulents from the <a href="https://www.unitystampco.com/succ-y-without-you-wk-8-20/">Succ-y without you</a> stamp set. My youngest daughter and I are HUGE succulent fans and have quite a collection of them. We've been growing babies from clippings all summer and they are safely tucked away against the house for the winter.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">To celebrate her love of these plants I thought it was fitting to create something she can hang in her room near her window where her favorite little friends reside in cute little pots. I had this wonderful letter "O" that was ready to be altered. I stamped all around the letter using Memento ink. Being careful to fill in the gaps with extra little parts from this wonderful stamp. The images were then colored using various colors of Copic markers to show off the amazing colors that these fabulous plants can come in.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Look at the amazing details included on this stamp!!!</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQGN-tk_HCVW4INO1Szj9N_MHyzkH7heuurjN0UKdpBZ13Y0rs83z75RPf25iSC8Hi8g1GoMQvnBdxCarIiUWeeHE8exGx-KesJnS1lmOgnarK6eZt8XnayUXSFS7fgG_UBI2Hg/s640/O+full+view+with+stamp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="498" data-original-width="640" height="498" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQGN-tk_HCVW4INO1Szj9N_MHyzkH7heuurjN0UKdpBZ13Y0rs83z75RPf25iSC8Hi8g1GoMQvnBdxCarIiUWeeHE8exGx-KesJnS1lmOgnarK6eZt8XnayUXSFS7fgG_UBI2Hg/w640-h498/O+full+view+with+stamp.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">H</span><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">ere is a close up of one of the sections:</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_4qnKmgCYeqttfpQPLZeBtREtrqtf3HctENjX-OY-5T37p9EGBe-uBfl377Cq_0EpoGEG4FUdq4Kev3d-AQZHQ6IM716_OBpwi5QL3r-S18Emhi6-uCTn4o9OUF534YsKE3BuzA/s640/O+closeup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="596" data-original-width="640" height="596" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_4qnKmgCYeqttfpQPLZeBtREtrqtf3HctENjX-OY-5T37p9EGBe-uBfl377Cq_0EpoGEG4FUdq4Kev3d-AQZHQ6IM716_OBpwi5QL3r-S18Emhi6-uCTn4o9OUF534YsKE3BuzA/w640-h596/O+closeup.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">This was a fun project to make and any excuse I have to pull out one of my succulent plant books for color reference is always a good day! Having pushed aside all my art to work from home in my studio meant it was not a space that I wanted to be in during my non-working hours. I had to find a new balance some how, so I decided that I needed to move everything around within my space and reorganize it all so the work "stuff" was just a small part of the space and not the center of the space. So, I started a new job and thought it was the perfect time to change things up all over....I added a standing architects table to the corner of my studio and relocated all the work electronics there and off my standing studio table. Now the center of my room is not work space, but back to being art space!</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: medium;">Slowly over the course of the last few weeks I have gotten back into creating in my space. Physically putting my back to the two work monitors and laptop and allowing the painting, color, and playing to take center stage again. It feels good. I don't have room for my lightbox to take good photos, so I'll have to figure something out for that, but for now...I'll make due with phone images and letting the creative side of my brain take over and just PLAY again!!</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: medium;">I decided to play along with the <a href="http://creativeembellishmentsblog.com/2020/11/november-challenge-8/?fbclid=IwAR3J1iTXavNWuE4oaieCtj1XEKjA2TrtDdzFc2TASYj8mO8Qd-ZWgc7kUBI">Creative Embellishments November challenge</a>. The challenge is to be inspired by this image and create something...the twist is to add a quote.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYHaP1iQEcqSA4OORgm5_pzoM9o0ibRLzgF6U0TCDXZ2cYEbPlbe3yeNPsoMKdDODNj4m3w1OJcG7Pk61_Z3hxa5Ke1sW2GW6p2mPtNyOKWZ-CRNJL4pcFnBcf4dGO6TJ2TV-Iww/s700/november+ce+image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="438" data-original-width="700" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYHaP1iQEcqSA4OORgm5_pzoM9o0ibRLzgF6U0TCDXZ2cYEbPlbe3yeNPsoMKdDODNj4m3w1OJcG7Pk61_Z3hxa5Ke1sW2GW6p2mPtNyOKWZ-CRNJL4pcFnBcf4dGO6TJ2TV-Iww/w640-h400/november+ce+image.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: medium;">For my project I decided that since I had just gotten a new travelers journal to start with my recent Lets Make Art Journaling box would make some cover art for it. I started with the <a href="https://creativeembellishments.com/chipboard/shapes/wood-doily">Wooden doily </a>chipboard piece from Creative Embellishments. I used it as a stencil on the front; spraying four colors inspired by the image onto the page. I then printed my quote onto white cardstock and used the same sprays to color it to match the journal. I then added the wonderful <a href="https://creativeembellishments.com/chipboard/flowers/dandelions.html">Dandelion</a> shape that I painted white as a play on the word "wish" in the quote. This chipboard selection is also inspired by the image as things are flowing in the breeze.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: medium;">To finish off my cover I added some gems to the doily piece and some doodling around certain places to highlight things.</span></p><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRBfwJc36aJKqT8ZFndiohkGHJrYdqSwb-1d4UBULwrAStWHZDQSsG6dXVaFGKeIIq2R2FgP8emK7B1v4XiDUV3ylJWNVpSb-jgzuh4Z4qLeV6Fjq-aw_MvHP4x5-sLR93o7qErw/s640/journal+cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="408" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRBfwJc36aJKqT8ZFndiohkGHJrYdqSwb-1d4UBULwrAStWHZDQSsG6dXVaFGKeIIq2R2FgP8emK7B1v4XiDUV3ylJWNVpSb-jgzuh4Z4qLeV6Fjq-aw_MvHP4x5-sLR93o7qErw/s16000/journal+cover.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: medium;">here is a closeup...isn't that dandelion amazing...</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgppKuJRdzLCkF9HDEsGBKEaM0FBysTS-bfn_p4MhSNWePObJjBBvQBoDOSCoHAqi5LCtf4VlQOIiJPeYKYYLN16ZzHPX_F2qTvhd-QX6L5vBgEnqdcdaDF0WmWO3rTp0qt8cnTZg/s640/journal+closeup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgppKuJRdzLCkF9HDEsGBKEaM0FBysTS-bfn_p4MhSNWePObJjBBvQBoDOSCoHAqi5LCtf4VlQOIiJPeYKYYLN16ZzHPX_F2qTvhd-QX6L5vBgEnqdcdaDF0WmWO3rTp0qt8cnTZg/w480-h640/journal+closeup.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: medium;">I have been practicing my watercoloring every other day and took some need felting to play with on Thanksgiving. It delivers to your door four watercolor projects, complete with paint, paper, and instructions. There are weekly paint alongs and full tutorials for each project. I considered this the gift that would keep on giving as I would have no excuse not to paint since I would have everything I needed without having to step foot out of the house....<br />
<br />
I shared two of my projects on <a href="http://positive-force.blogspot.com/2019/04/watercolor-practice.html">this blog post</a>...along with the paintings my daughters did with me. <br />
<br />
Since then I have painted this fun tree branch...I think I'm going to redo it with more fall leaf colors:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And then this weekend I worked on this piece...<br />

<br />
I have to say that I adore Sarah's teaching style. She's super zany and cookey, so she's perfect for me to learn from. She constantly reminds you it's just paint and paper...don't worry. The world needs more Sarah type influence...<br />
<br />
I am super excited to start incorporating watercoloring into more of my projects. I think it would be awesome to watercolor through a stencil....<br />
<br />
If you have a chance...check out <a href="https://www.letsmakeart.com/">Sarah's site</a> and take a peek at her tutorials...I think you will be inspired just like I was...<br />

The sudden sale and dismissal of the design team for Canvas Corp left me feeling a bit off balance. I had passed on a few other teams so I could focus on creating projects that showcased their products exclusively. I've taken some time away to work on my watercoloring skills and to just reflect on what I wanted to do next with my art.<br />
<br />
I've been volunteering with our local cat rescue non-profit organization since our fires here in October of 2017 and I was able to put to use the skills I learned from them to assist in tracking and finally tracking a cat that had been missing for almost three weeks. Gato the Great has been on of my proudest accomplishments; from patterning his behavior; learning about him, to having him spotted and eventually trapping him. This past Thursday his Dad finally was able to come pick him up; reunited with his boy after almost five weeks apart.<br />
<br />
I created this canvas as a tribute to the amazing cat and animal rescue friends that I have made in the past year and a half. I am blessed to be part of this amazing community and could not image a more selfless group of individuals that I can truly call my friends.<br />
<br />
This cute canvas panel is a tribute to all those that help. It features a digital image that I printed onto watercolor paper. I then used Gelatos to paint the colors. I love love love how gelatos blend and can create such great depth of color. I added some white gouache accents. I then printed the sentiment onto the same paper and added it to the canvas using Mod Podge. I then outlined and added some doodle lines to the sentiment. I then used Mod Podge to seal the canvas. This will proudly sit on my desk at work!<br />
<br />

<br />
For this card I used this cute freebie that was given away by Mommy Lhey:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGys7K4Vf5oukPsTeULTWqSpNl8lxkoyg5l4po6H7SRa1gvaPxRaT8zOe9vWZfQxAuTvDh_VGpfepNvS8JZRPriYkTS-yfFMOmuRUSjQcoxq88hjSIxndO-5hjQBvd7j9E3TmRTw/s1600/mama+lhey+coffee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGys7K4Vf5oukPsTeULTWqSpNl8lxkoyg5l4po6H7SRa1gvaPxRaT8zOe9vWZfQxAuTvDh_VGpfepNvS8JZRPriYkTS-yfFMOmuRUSjQcoxq88hjSIxndO-5hjQBvd7j9E3TmRTw/s640/mama+lhey+coffee.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She was printed onto watercolor paper. I then used Prima Watercolors to give her some dimension and add the fun abstract background. I think she's fabulous and perfect for a Thank you card with a starbucks card for a friend that has been so nice.</div>

Here is another card using a printable. This is printed onto watercolor cardstock; then watercolored. I then backed the image with black cardstock and then mounted it onto the cardbase.<br />

It's time!!! Love when the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop happens...having lived in Seattle for almost 18 years.....I have a good collection of coffee themed items...so I love to participate in this hop!! So...welcome to my first card for the <a href="http://coffeelovingcardmakers.com/2019/05/2019-spring-summer-coffee-lovers-blog-hop-2/">Spring/Summer Coffee Lover's Blog Hop!</a><br />
<br />
I've been watercoloring a lot lately and enjoying the feel of imperfection that can come from using this medium. For my first card I stamped the images from the <a href="https://www.unitystampco.com/warmth-of-winter-kom-12-14/">Warmth of Winter Unity KOTM 12/14</a> onto watercolor paper using Versafine black ink. I then used Prima Pan Watercolors to color her in. I just love this image and have used it a lot for cooler weather greeting cards and projects.<br />
<br />
I then trimmed the image and rounded the corners. I then inked the edges and added some glossy accents to the heart on her cup. I then rounded the corners on the pattern paper and added it to the card base; rounding the corners on it as well. <br />
<br />
Since tomorrow is Monday....this sentiment is very true...Caffeine is a girl's best friend...<br />

This kit is delivered each month and contains 4 paint along packages; which include paper, paint, and the outline for each project. Each week there is a paint along night and step by step tutorial videos that go along with each package. The idea for me was it was a dedicated night to paint; which was then replaced with swim practice, choir concerts, art classes across town......to sum it up...kids schedules have gotten in the way. Well I finally started playing...<br />
<br />
Well I've been practicing and the girls and I painted the fall island together:<br />

<br />
I think we did amazingly well considering this was our first attempt. We used cutting mats from the kitchen as boards for our paper to be taped to and were able to watch the tutorial from the Youtube video on the large tv in the living room; which made it super fun!<br />
<br />
This was my second robin painting and I think I am finally starting to get the hang of it. I of course see all the things I would and should do differently next time, but that is what art is...it's an expression and takes practice. <br />

Happy crafting....Lyndaarlsmom aka Lyndahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05174475940058491617noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22508843.post-52300458661845992022019-04-21T15:48:00.000-07:002019-04-21T15:48:04.920-07:00Beautiful life canvasRecent events within the crafting industry have made me do a lot of soul searching for what my true purpose is for creating and sharing. I feel best when I use art to express myself. I love being inky and painty and just get messy. Being creative is a great stress reliever for me and since my job is very analytical (finance), being artistic exercises the other half of my brain and allows me to be a bit "illogical" for a while; which is a good thing. I love being able to invoke feelings and emotions with colors and images. I love finding new ways to incorporate things I have in my stash into projects in unusual and unexpected ways. The idea of being able to share a project to teach others that creating beautiful things is as easy as following steps makes me happy.<br />
<br />
This canvas is a prime example of just those things...paying homage to the start of spring and blending techniques together to create something that I adore.<br />

<br />
I started with a small canvas from the Artists Loft line by Michaels. I picked coordinating papers by designer Aga Baraniak; from her Bohemian Romance line; using paper from the 8x8 paper pack and the Mixed Media Pack. I decided to make my flower from this wonderful journal paper in the paper pack. I cut out a single leaf and then used it as a pattern to cut the remaining petals. I inked the edges of each petal and set them aside.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfwIthgPVX3NLV9yGHk9poDng-fPe4uW7YLTb5X52-4a07HaLXj-Sx2ohp9A0psVrXF3tYqN2XHq-t5l_T-sqBqT3bge3sO9kCELYa0Xze7FB6KJj6P9fIMsYac7tYuce9sb-e5Q/s1600/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+three.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfwIthgPVX3NLV9yGHk9poDng-fPe4uW7YLTb5X52-4a07HaLXj-Sx2ohp9A0psVrXF3tYqN2XHq-t5l_T-sqBqT3bge3sO9kCELYa0Xze7FB6KJj6P9fIMsYac7tYuce9sb-e5Q/s640/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+three.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I picked a piece of green from the mixed media pack and cut out leaves for the flower stem. I then used a stylus to etch in veins on each leaf.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgav3wyCsXfaBhZNIHUj7qqOWGmeVKWqSUg5pMqRM2ity5fqeirSAmkGmI9bOCILSZV2tOBd84APh5A0pxflQresYTdHYsrkqZ7AfNpLVF9g7sdj-Sa4GxhywiweIoCTsrqT_ZVxw/s1600/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+eight.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgav3wyCsXfaBhZNIHUj7qqOWGmeVKWqSUg5pMqRM2ity5fqeirSAmkGmI9bOCILSZV2tOBd84APh5A0pxflQresYTdHYsrkqZ7AfNpLVF9g7sdj-Sa4GxhywiweIoCTsrqT_ZVxw/s640/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+eight.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I then picked out the base papers for the canvas. I trimmed them to the size of the canvas and used Mod Podge to adhere them to the canvas. I then set it aside to dry.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf2AVhEnTBvunkxflyFXO0pF6qCecz1QZNrDhtWBvFAPUOxSalQ-0ctGpN_RmCnnxPO61DdZsyy1CgIgJmpk0ujk6DOPy1FBX2kC7VbOC9f9RVRGqbAYOBFaFlJJNVIXBHCoYzjg/s1600/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+one.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="906" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf2AVhEnTBvunkxflyFXO0pF6qCecz1QZNrDhtWBvFAPUOxSalQ-0ctGpN_RmCnnxPO61DdZsyy1CgIgJmpk0ujk6DOPy1FBX2kC7VbOC9f9RVRGqbAYOBFaFlJJNVIXBHCoYzjg/s640/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+one.jpg" width="482" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I loved the rough edge on the brown paper I used on the bottom and left the edges that rough around the entire canvas.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyZgf5u1dNr62tjmf5Fpsm8kRDs9wnecS6dZskvEfTNBPFeMXUufLNbCor9ca7s3SWO-2tlkC785lNPhIxJeQ2GoS7HVwCKu8FheenNjr22zyuu84naVmbD7km4a2IvCJotEcOfw/s1600/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+two.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyZgf5u1dNr62tjmf5Fpsm8kRDs9wnecS6dZskvEfTNBPFeMXUufLNbCor9ca7s3SWO-2tlkC785lNPhIxJeQ2GoS7HVwCKu8FheenNjr22zyuu84naVmbD7km4a2IvCJotEcOfw/s640/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+two.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I used blue watercolor paint to change the top piece from white to a sky blue color. Using white paint, I started to add some extra details to the solid colors. I like to use bubble wrap to add fun circles to my projects. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ54bknYQI5QvqHUSKo-H8UO6Z9_8VeIulcK5SrCjj-lKZnX4cYKrWe25K955AjJtomFJgeRmpnwDYy02keIIDgo9Kli73HeU7-hbtty-Jd9UM1BCuEoX8CC9lej0R9Rl6POYEvA/s1600/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+five.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ54bknYQI5QvqHUSKo-H8UO6Z9_8VeIulcK5SrCjj-lKZnX4cYKrWe25K955AjJtomFJgeRmpnwDYy02keIIDgo9Kli73HeU7-hbtty-Jd9UM1BCuEoX8CC9lej0R9Rl6POYEvA/s640/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+five.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I found this fun piece of cutout paper in the Mixed Media pack and thought it would make a fun stencil. Using the same white paint I added some of these rose images to the canvas for extra details.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfw2knwDGpe5aO5IxVZlkC5fGpxOeALcua7KfUlXR0YB1rpfJFlAuzioEAxqDQ6V0n3iY9j2RLsbRMLIm8AG874IMfaf-noatyB3SWMNwR7DDiE_w5dFpq2zxrvx4Nr-VKl1lCrw/s1600/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+six.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfw2knwDGpe5aO5IxVZlkC5fGpxOeALcua7KfUlXR0YB1rpfJFlAuzioEAxqDQ6V0n3iY9j2RLsbRMLIm8AG874IMfaf-noatyB3SWMNwR7DDiE_w5dFpq2zxrvx4Nr-VKl1lCrw/s640/cbc+beautiful+life+canvas+step+six.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I really like the image left behind using this as a stencil:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I cute a long piece of jute and wound it into a circle. I then added it to the flower center using Mod Podge.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love how much this jute adds to the flower... I then used a black marker to add little details along the stem and other places on the canvas for some character. Once all the details are just so, cover the entire surface with another layer of Mod Podge to seal it in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The title is cut from the top piece from a single sheet of the Compose your Life Beautiful Life paper by Aga Baraniak. I added it to the canvas using Mod Podge, drawing some lines around each cut out piece and then sealing the surface with a final coat of Mod Podge.</div>

<br />
I adore this canvas; from the rough texture of the brown paper at the base that looks like dirt, to the veins I added to the leaves and the little scraggly bits of jute extending from the flower center.. It makes me so happy to look out into my garden and see the colors of Spring popping out all over and this canvas reminds me of that.<br />

<br />
I like to label all my sides when working with a dimensional item; so you will see the numbers on the back of the paper and each side of the cottage. I then trim down the pattern paper and label it with the corresponding side number. This makes it easier when adding the papers to the project using mod podge. Add all the pieces to the building sides and roof. For the roof I used binder clips to secure in place as it was drying because of the raised center of the roof line.<br />
<br />
Add a second layer of paint onto the windows and door. Set them aside to dry as you work on final touches of the house. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: "PT Serif", Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 12.5px; text-align: center;">

<br />
I added Copper paint along the roof edge to tie in with the copper roof paper. Use liquid adhesive to add the window and door to the house. I used a hole punch to cut a doorknob from the roofing paper to tie the entire house’s look together.<br />

Today I'm sharing with you these fabulous pots I made using Tattered Angels High Impact paint, texture paste, and white glue...<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: left;">For this pot I based the entire pot in the tan High Impact paint. Let that base coat dry completely before moving on to the next step. Next coat the pot with white glue and while still tacky painted over it with the turquoise color. Heat the surface with a heat tool to create the crackle effect. The thicker the glue, the bigger the cracks... I like to make the glue thicker in some places so the cracking and striping look more random.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: left;">For this pot, I used the turquoise High Impact paint as the base coat. I also trimmed the very top rim with copper High Impact paint. I added copper paint to some texture paste and added it to the pot to add lots of texture. Once the paint and texture paste are fully dry, I added a layer of white glue. While the glue was still tacky, I painted over it with a layer of turquoise High Impact paint. I then heated the entire pot surface with the heat tool and the crackle happened showing through all the great colors and textures. It really looks like patina on metal!</span></div>

The main image is Beats Bella and the kitty is from the add on Sleeping Simon kitty image from the Reading Rosie and Ralph set. Both images are colored with Prismacolor Pencils. I then fussy cut the main image out and fussy cut Simon. I found this wonderful pattern paper in my stash and added it to my card base. I then added the LOVE to the front; which was a paperclip that I snapped the back off of. I used my fussy cutting skills to trim away her hands from her body and phone and tucked that cute little kitty right there on her lap! Simon has a little bit of foam tape behind his body to keep him up on her lap and it also makes her hands stand up a bit from the rest of the image.

I have accumulated a good number of coffee themed shirts and we have more mugs than any one family should ever have, but I can't help myself...<br />
<br />
I love when the Coffee Loving Cardmakers get hopping...always a good reason to pull out my coffee themed images and get busy. This time I started with this wonderful chipboard from Creative Embellishments. I was lucky enough to win a prize from their online party a little while ago and picked out this awesome saying "Life Happens Coffee Helps"... I started by painting the piece with High Impact Black paint from Tattered Angels and set it aside to dry. I then printed this fun "<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/294957577/time-for-tea-girl-digital-stamp?ga_search_query=tea%2Bgirl&ref=shop_items_search_21">Time for Tea Girl</a>" from Time For Tea Designs. I colored her in with prismacolored pencils and fussy cut the image out. I then assembled my card by first covering the card base (5 x 7 white card with matching envelope from Canvas Corp Brands) with some scrap pattern paper I have from the Prima Legdger Pad. I then used liquid glue to add the chipboard and a tape runner to add the image. I then used some black ink to distress the edges of the entire card.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Be sure to check out all the amazing entries along the <a href="http://coffeelovingcardmakers.com/2018/11/2018-fall-winter-coffee-lovers-blog-hop/">hop</a>...I end up making quite the list of must have new coffee themed images by the time I am done hopping along!<br />

Happy crafting....Lyndaarlsmom aka Lyndahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05174475940058491617noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22508843.post-7880635697686274962018-11-11T13:00:00.000-08:002018-11-11T13:00:06.483-08:00Remaking a Target dollar spot pumpkinSo if you are like me...you can't make a trip through Target without stopping at least once in the dollar spot section. When the fall and Halloween items were put out I picked up one of these plain white pumpkins so it would match everything. Little did I know that I would be inspired to switch up this pumpkin with some wonderful sprays. Here is what I started with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMSltzONa3lIbp3SK1-LwJ-y0Ue4LOUIDInY3fIKLd1GpdA76jh7EVjXmew-P0orSL3Na4NWGI2yi_5ZZf43u-g5_TYg-2uy5NAl8RMsTiuN8LgJZMt7dFhrn00TLSI20W2AYlEQ/s1600/IMG_9367.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMSltzONa3lIbp3SK1-LwJ-y0Ue4LOUIDInY3fIKLd1GpdA76jh7EVjXmew-P0orSL3Na4NWGI2yi_5ZZf43u-g5_TYg-2uy5NAl8RMsTiuN8LgJZMt7dFhrn00TLSI20W2AYlEQ/s640/IMG_9367.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I used a piece of recycled bubble wrap and sprayed it with irRESISTible NEON Electric Blue and irRESISTible Pear
Tart texture sprays. I then pressed the bubble wrap into and all
around the pumpkin to achieve the desired coating and pattern. I paid
extra attention to the grooves of the pumpkin making sure to coat the
surface evenly, but allowing bits of the white to show through. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivuNZJ5Qvdt9ujQjrT52o3K1KPQjw7nc8ivmA0ue1mN40ravv_SAn6dqJY92347Kpuq2VEhFMLwOhGH-5UjPmyeVH_y0O0LM58L-8Op9vgKzCJJw4ysZ5Gz_xwfY7omSyxOBMHWw/s1600/IMG_9369.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivuNZJ5Qvdt9ujQjrT52o3K1KPQjw7nc8ivmA0ue1mN40ravv_SAn6dqJY92347Kpuq2VEhFMLwOhGH-5UjPmyeVH_y0O0LM58L-8Op9vgKzCJJw4ysZ5Gz_xwfY7omSyxOBMHWw/s640/IMG_9369.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnaUBe0wXjVC3C8Pl5SYhkKJMlditzVVq1DvARWVBIEb3sFeFKV3_ub2K00io61eQE7hnwHt-hUiz4xNuavXgLAbhSE7hObxPh4FipF6nkSSS6YrjhvVhrttONl-oXRsYfMFRWmg/s1600/IMG_9370.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnaUBe0wXjVC3C8Pl5SYhkKJMlditzVVq1DvARWVBIEb3sFeFKV3_ub2K00io61eQE7hnwHt-hUiz4xNuavXgLAbhSE7hObxPh4FipF6nkSSS6YrjhvVhrttONl-oXRsYfMFRWmg/s640/IMG_9370.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I then
used a piece of white wire trim and curled it to look like the little
vines on a pumpkin. I added the trim and a coordinating leaf from my
stash to the pumpkin using liquid adhesive. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi8-PDg2I_dBo9wHNNyLTlGuSYX20x4lK29wN2TPn6sCNew0jkg_QZDy-X9tzPe31GfB3oI07gTiSK4bFGiiMn3-R787RalYBZJfQeTvJHfTJ26zaFwjcew8B6zG1h_baaRECPoQ/s1600/AIRs_Lynda_Lindley_2019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi8-PDg2I_dBo9wHNNyLTlGuSYX20x4lK29wN2TPn6sCNew0jkg_QZDy-X9tzPe31GfB3oI07gTiSK4bFGiiMn3-R787RalYBZJfQeTvJHfTJ26zaFwjcew8B6zG1h_baaRECPoQ/s640/AIRs_Lynda_Lindley_2019.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I love how this piece now
looks and the transformation from bland to grand with some fantastic
color and texture was done in less than a half hour.<br />
<br />

<br />
This project was shared on the Canvas Corp <a href="http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/what-is-old-becomes-new-again-with-glimmer-mist/">blog October 31</a>. I am always on the lookout for unique containers to alter for gift giving. I spend a good bit of time at thrift shops and love when I come across well-made pieces that feature hinges that can be easily removed for altering. I hit the jackpot at our local Goodwill one Saturday and scored this fantastic container marked at $3.99 with a green tag that was half off that day. Now, let me show you how upcycled it to follow the theme – Old Becomes New.<br />

Begin by removing the hardware from the box.<br />
Be sure to keep these in a safe location because it is easy to misplace a tiny screw.<br />

Once this has dried, continue to decorate the container.<br />
I changed the color of the natural hank using black ink.<br />
I used the same black ink to smudge the edges along the entire container.<br />
Replace the hardware on the box.<br />
Using liquid adhesive add trim to the top and bottom as shown.<br />
Using the same adhesive adhere the flowers to the front of the container and to the lid.<br />

I hope you will look for containers that you can alter when you are walking through thrift shops and consignment stores.<br />

This week I thought it would be fun to share with you how wonderful the
Mixed Media Origins papers work with Prima Watercolors. I decided that I
would use the double pumpkin image.<br />
<img alt="" class="size-large wp-image-70341 aligncenter img-responsive" height="480" src="http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/pwwo-pumpkin-watercoloring-supplies-750x563.jpg" width="640" /><br />
Supply list:<br />
Canvas Corp Mixed Media Origins Mini Art – <a href="https://shop.canvascorpbrands.com/products/mixed-media-origins-mini-art-pumpkins">Pumpkins</a><br />
Prima Watercolor paints: Tropicals, Decadent Pies, and The Tropics<br />
White gouache<br />
<br />
I like to use a dropper to add water to my watercolor pans and then
transfer the individual colors to the mixing areas within each set. I
had a general idea of the colors I wanted to use, so I added water to
about five of the orange, yellow, and brown pans to start with. I
started with the pumpkin on the right and started building up my colors,
remembering to leave some spaces for highlights. The Mixed Media
Origins Mini Art papers are perfect for watercoloring as it is thick and
almost cloth like in feeling and texture. The watercolor floats on the
surface of the paper for a good bit allowing you to move the paint a
good bit before it finally starts to dry.<br />
<img alt="" class="size-large wp-image-70342 aligncenter img-responsive" height="480" src="http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/pwwwo-pumpkin-watercoloring-step-one-750x563.jpg" width="640" /><br />
I continued adding colors until I felt I had some good depth to the
shape. I then moved on to the pumpkin on the left. I started this one
by layering the lightest color from the right pumpkin onto certain areas
of the image. These watercolor paints are amazing for layering of
color. When working on a piece like this it is easy to move from one
side to the other allowing parts of it to dry a bit before adding more
color to the image.<br />
<img alt="" class="size-large wp-image-70343 aligncenter img-responsive" height="480" src="http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/pwwo-pumpkin-watercoloring-step-two-750x563.jpg" width="640" /><br />
I decided for this pumpkin that I wanted it have a blue and greenish
tint to it, so I added multiple shades of blue and green leaving some
highlight areas on this one as well.<br />
<img alt="" class="size-large wp-image-70344 aligncenter img-responsive" height="480" src="http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/pwwo-pumpkin-watercoloring-step-three-750x563.jpg" width="640" /><br />
I used the remaining paints I had mixed in the pan to color the
leaves and the background behind the pumpkins. I love how they turned
out. I am not sure whether I will try and add this piece to a card
front or frame it to sit on my side table in the living room during
fall. These watercolors really are wonderful to work with and the color
stays very vibrant when the image dries. I went back in with some
white gouache paint to add some extras little accents on the stems.<br />
<img alt="" class="size-large wp-image-70345 aligncenter img-responsive" height="480" src="http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/pwwo-pumpkin-watercoloring-closeup-750x563.jpg" width="640" /><br />
Here is my final painted piece.<br />
<img alt="" class="size-large wp-image-70346 aligncenter img-responsive" height="480" src="http://blog.canvascorpbrands.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/pwwo-pumpkin-watercoloring-final-750x563.jpg" width="640" /><br />
I hope you will take a look at the Mixed Media Origins papers and try them with Prima watercolors.<br />

<i>Gotta have my coffee...</i><i></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i></i><i></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i><i></i></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
For this cover, I decided that I was
going to try a technique I have wanted to do for a while – paint with
coffee. I mixed some instant coffee with various amounts of water to
create different colors to use on my project. I even died the trim on
the edge of the cover with coffee.<i><br /></i>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBCJUYDZvwLtzJO_mqow97bP9GB4EaOhdyRN0KB6DoO12nJ-jsRsB7kU8av3onysUH2MG-Cmq9YGdCZY2CRob-LEvSEPsG_fSQrAj-h2khGfJ6s0OK-kwVZF_N1bLiRP5vglcz9Q/s1600/CCB-coffee-painted-book.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="578" data-original-width="640" height="578" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBCJUYDZvwLtzJO_mqow97bP9GB4EaOhdyRN0KB6DoO12nJ-jsRsB7kU8av3onysUH2MG-Cmq9YGdCZY2CRob-LEvSEPsG_fSQrAj-h2khGfJ6s0OK-kwVZF_N1bLiRP5vglcz9Q/s640/CCB-coffee-painted-book.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I dipped the lid of a mason jar into the coffee and pressed it into the paper to create the rings and dripped coffee from the paintbrush onto the cover to add more texture and designs. <br />

This past year has been so full of challenges and changes here in our community in Northern California. In less than one week it will be a year since the terrible wildfires burned through our area. So much has changed and so much has yet to change.<br />
<br />
One thing that has stayed the same is my need to be creative as a way to express myself. This has always been a great way for me to let off stress and relax. I've been creating a lot of mixed media and altered projects lately for the design team I am on. It is fun to take something and repurpose it into something totally new. Giving a new life to something is a great feeling.<br />
<br />
We had a challenge on the Canvas Corp crew to create something using a foreign language that we speak, so not our native language. For my project I created a cute little notebook that has the saying "My Love"....in Spanish (which I speak a little of), French (which both my girls now are taking in school and speak) and Cat...which my family thinks I speak. Whenever one of the cats start meowing everyone always asks me what they are saying:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVomYePkb8KblciSEpW-5LlJyeDtY2aBAkKU2plW-7B2Si-fWmIyqpJ59eKH89LcxYrYY23FZxzpow-UN9lDtGpbHfLDoE1BhqPQ2ff6y3CM6VbI8wHpfj0lTzBE2m2p1oIHlgdw/s1600/IMG_9003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVomYePkb8KblciSEpW-5LlJyeDtY2aBAkKU2plW-7B2Si-fWmIyqpJ59eKH89LcxYrYY23FZxzpow-UN9lDtGpbHfLDoE1BhqPQ2ff6y3CM6VbI8wHpfj0lTzBE2m2p1oIHlgdw/s640/IMG_9003.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I also created this watercolor book using a stencil:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibxzIm5dCfhc-8WwZCXwhdPmjZjtd9q6z3VzQdOqh3CjxkqkZ-0HoL5wMRhMNpX743CNgfHUTp-Feu7kWwtsmd_ZyDs0n5iVgZnYGxQ5oSl6MXxjmltx8aGW_GFq-F_5LLdTatHQ/s1600/cc+art+book+final.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1200" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibxzIm5dCfhc-8WwZCXwhdPmjZjtd9q6z3VzQdOqh3CjxkqkZ-0HoL5wMRhMNpX743CNgfHUTp-Feu7kWwtsmd_ZyDs0n5iVgZnYGxQ5oSl6MXxjmltx8aGW_GFq-F_5LLdTatHQ/s640/cc+art+book+final.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I've been doing a lot of coloring as well...even had a few pieces submitted for publication in a European magazine. I will know in a couple weeks if the cards were picked up or not. Lots of other projects will be shared once they are posted on the Canvas Corp blog.<br />
<br />
For my birthday the family bought me a subscription to a watercoloring kit that will come each month. Each box has four projects and enough supplies to make the project twice. I am looking forward to working on my watercoloring skills and creating some new art for our walls and my office. <br />
<br />
I hope you have enjoyed these projects and I will share the others as soon as I can.<br />
<br />
Happy crafting....Lynda<br />
